Monica & Yama: Industrial meets Retro-Glam Summer Wedding

Monica and I began our collaboration shortly after she got engaged, allowing us ample time - over a year, in fact - to meticulously plan her and Yama’s wedding celebration. Personally, I love when brides approach me at such an early stage of their planning journey. This gives me the opportunity to introduce them to my highly regarded network of vendors, actively participate in their design visions, and oversee the fulfillment of every intricate element on their checklist.

Monica & Yama had an amazing team of vendors and I’m so thankful for each vendor and the role they played! Venue & Catering: Silk Mill // Florals: Katelyn of Urban Flora // Photography: Soph’s Photos // Video: Althea Weddings // DJ: Prime Time Entertainment

Monica came to me with a unique and bold design vision that I was obsessed with. Her venue was a remodeled, industrial mill with exposed bricks, beams, and steam-punk touches. She wanted to contrast that backdrop with bold and colorful florals, rooted in disco-glam and retro touches such as nostalgic Gerbera Daisies, disco balls, and heart-shaped rose colored glasses.

It was truly one of the best days - with personalized touches, small moments of togetherness, and special traditions to honor Yama’s family and culture. The couple participated in a henna ceremony; where the groom’s family mixes a henna past and places it into the newlywed’s palms - wishing the couple health and prosperity. Monica was also showered with gifts of jewelry; another cultural tradition and way of welcoming the new bride into the family.

Some of my favorite details from the day were the beautiful custom signs that the bride MADE! The welcome sign, seating chart, and sweetheart table signage were all created by Monica - from concept to construction. With her background in graphic design and hobby in woodworking, she whipped these up and I am seriously OBSESSED.

I’m so honored to have planned this wedding and will be sharing these photos forever! I hope that you are inspired by these beautiful images and the unique design vision!
